The Sims 4 cheats: the complete code list

The cheat console is a text bar that appears in the top-left corner of the screen. You type a command into it, press Enter, and the game applies the change to whatever is currently selected, usually the active Sim or the active household.

Commands fall into two groups. A handful are always available, which is why motherlodeCopy works the moment you open the console on a fresh save. The rest are gated behind testingcheats trueCopy, including every shift-click menu in the game.

Case does not matter. EA writes resetSimCopy and PC Gamer writes it in lowercase, and both work. Spelling and spacing do matter, because a space ends an argument: an internal skill name printed with a space in it cannot work as typed.

To close the console again, press the same four shoulder buttons on console, or press Esc.

testingcheats trueCopy is the master switch. testingcheats onCopy does the same job, and either testingcheats falseCopy or testingcheats offCopy turns it back off.

With it on, you get:

• Every shift-click menu, on Sims, objects, the ground and the mailbox.
• cas.fulleditmodeCopy and the Modify in CAS option that goes with it.
• The skill, career, trait, relationship, buff and stat commands, which is to say everything starting stats., careers., traits., sims., aspirations. and modifyrelationship.

It is not needed for the money cheats (motherlode, kaching, rosebud, money and FreeRealEstate) or for the bb. Build mode cheats. EA calls the Build mode set fair game on console, because those do not affect achievements.

On console, the shift-click equivalent is holding Circle and pressing X on PlayStation, or holding B and pressing A on Xbox.

The commands themselves are identical on all four platforms. The differences are in how you reach them and what using them costs.

On PlayStation and Xbox, any cheat that needs testingcheats trueCopy disables Achievements and Trophies for that save. Other saves are not affected, so a common approach is to keep one save for cheating and one for trophy hunting. Build mode cheats are excluded from that penalty: EA states plainly that they do not disable achievements.

Console players also have no mods. The Sims 4 on PlayStation and Xbox does not load script mods of any kind, so the typed console is the only route there. That is covered in more detail on whether UI Cheats works on console.

Two console-only conveniences are worth knowing. Shift-click is Circle and X on PlayStation, B and A on Xbox. Resizing a selected object, which is the bracket keys on PC, is done by holding L2 and R2 (or LT and RT) and pressing up or down on the D-pad.

On PC and Mac there is a second way to do most of this. The UI Cheats Extension is a free script mod by weerbesu that makes the game's own interface clickable: you right-click the household funds counter and type an exact figure, click a needs bar to set that need, or right-click a skill bar and pick a level.

It covers the ground that the money, needs, skills, careers, relationships, aspirations, traits, moodlet and wants commands cover, plus the age bar in the Simology panel and the in-game clock, season and weather icons. What it does not do is Build mode, pregnancy, killing or resetting a Sim: for those the console command is the only route.

Most failures come down to three things: the console never opened, the command needed testingcheats trueCopy and did not have it, or the internal name in the command was copied from a guide that printed it with a space in the middle.
