Does UI Cheats work on console?

The mod ships as two files: a package file and a script file. Both go into a Mods folder that the game reads at launch, under Documents on Windows and macOS. The console versions of The Sims 4 do not load script mods of any kind, so the half of the mod that does the actual work could never run there.

So the honest position is that this site's main subject does not apply to you if you play on PlayStation or Xbox. The rest of this page is about what does apply: the built-in cheat console, how to open it with a controller, and the one real cost of switching cheats on.

A script mod is compiled code that the game loads and runs. The Sims 4 on PC and Mac has an explicit setting for it, Script Mods Allowed, sitting under Game Options, Other, and the game will not touch a script file until you switch that on and restart. The console versions do not offer that setting, because they do not support script mods at all.

That is also why the mod's own requirements only ever mention Windows and macOS. Version 1.59.1 is built for game version 1.127.41 on those two platforms, and the only other build the author offers is a frozen Legacy Edition release for 32-bit PCs and older Macs.

The cheat console is built into the game on every platform. It is the same feature PC players use, it takes the same commands, and nothing has to be installed. Hold the four shoulder buttons, type a command with the on-screen keyboard, press Enter.

Most of what UI Cheats does by clicking has a typed equivalent. Household funds, skill levels, career promotions, relationship values, needs, aspirations and traits all have commands, and you can look them up by category in cheat codes that work on console. There are things the typed commands cannot match. fillmotive motive_hunger fills a need; there is no documented command that sets a single need to an exact value the way clicking a point on the bar does with the mod. Setting exact household funds is the other way round: money 145897 sets the balance precisely, which is the same result the mod gives you, so you lose nothing there beyond the typing.

Hold all four shoulder buttons together until the text bar appears in the top-left corner. Press them again, or press Escape if you have a keyboard attached, to close it.

With the console open, type testingcheats trueCopy and press Enter first. That is the master switch for the cheats that are not always on, including every shift-click menu. Money cheats and the build mode bb. cheats work without it.

This is the one real cost, and it is worth understanding before you type anything. On PlayStation and Xbox, any cheat that requires testingcheats true switches Achievements and Trophies off for that save. Other saves are not affected, so a cheated household does not cost you the trophies you earn elsewhere.

Build mode cheats are the exception EA calls out by name: they do not disable achievements, which is why bb.moveobjects and the hidden object unlocks are safe on a save you are still chasing trophies in.
