Sims 4 career cheats

The Sim you have selected is the one the command acts on, so click the Sim you want before you open the console. There is no way to name a different Sim in these commands the way modifyrelationship does.

Demoting below level one removes the job, so you can end a career either way. Retiring is the one that is not the same as quitting: a retired Sim leaves the job with a weekly pension, where careers.remove_career simply ends the employment.

Three of these names catch people out. The Writer career is adult_writer rather than writer, the Athlete career is athletic, and the Style Influencer career is styleinfluencer as one word. Guides disagree about the first and the last of those, which is why both alternatives are noted in the table.

Part-time jobs sit alongside a full-time career rather than replacing it, so a teen with a job and an adult picking up a second income both work the way you would expect.

A pack career command does nothing at all if you do not own the pack. That is the second most common reason one of these looks broken, after a misspelled name.

Discover University's three careers are the messiest set here. Two guides give short names (Education, Engineering, Law) and longer ones (careers_Adult_Education and the rest). The short names are the ones two sources agree on, so start there.

The Noble career from Royalty and Legacy works differently from every other career in the game: promotions are normally claimed by hand from a throne. The cheat ignores that and promotes the Sim directly, which is worth knowing if you are trying to reach Monarch without running the whole court storyline.

There is no career command for Businesses and Hobbies. That pack adds small-business ownership rather than a career track, and its renown and alignment are set from the shift-click menu instead.

Each entry moves the grade one step, so a child going from an F to an A takes four careers.promote Gradeschool commands. Demote works the same way in the other direction, which is handy if you want a struggling teen rather than a perfect one.

Two further after-school activities from Discover University, the Soccer Team and the E-Sports team, are listed by a single guide as Careers.promote careers_Volunteer_SoccerTeam and Careers.promote career_Volunteer_E-Sports. No second source confirms either spelling, so treat them as worth a try rather than as documented commands. The same applies to the career_Teen_Highschool variant some guides report for High School Years.

So if you want a Sim in the Investor branch of Business, the sequence is: promote with careers.promote business until the branch prompt appears, choose Investor, then keep entering the same command. The branch names in the tables above are there so you know what the prompt will offer, not so you can type them.

Changing your mind later is the one thing the console cannot do here. Switching a Sim from one branch to the other is a UI Cheats Extension feature, described further down this page.

Beyond that, career cheats behave identically on all four platforms. Open the console by holding R1, R2, L1 and L2 on PlayStation, or RB, RT, LB and LT on Xbox, and type the command exactly as it appears in the tables.
