Pregnancy in The Sims 4 is driven by buffs, so the cheats are buffs too. Turn cheats on with testingcheats true, select the pregnant Sim, then add a trimester buff to skip ahead or sims.add_buff buff_pregnancy_inlabor to have the baby now.
Twins and triplets work differently. That takes the Sim ID and pregnancy.force_offspring_count, which is the one pregnancy cheat EA documents itself.
Turn cheats on first
Open the cheat console with Ctrl + Shift + C on Windows, or by holding all four shoulder buttons on Xbox and PlayStation. Type testingcheats true and press Enter. The game confirms that cheats are enabled.
EA names only the money cheats and the Build mode cheats as working without that switch, so treat everything on this page as needing it. One habit saves most of the trouble on this page: click the pregnant Sim's portrait before you open the console. Every buff command applies to the Sim who is currently selected, and a cheat aimed at the wrong Sim looks exactly like a cheat that did not work.
Every pregnancy cheat
Trimesters and labour, the offspring count, ending a pregnancy, and the Grim Reaper traits from Life & Death.
Move a pregnancy along
Each buff jumps the pregnancy to that stage on the Sim you have selected. They work in order, so you can run all three and then go straight to labour.

Twins, triplets and more
Forcing the number of babies takes two commands: one to look up the Sim ID, one to set the count.

End a pregnancy
There is no dedicated cancel command. You clear the buffs that carry the pregnancy instead.

Grim Reaper babies
With Life & Death installed, a Sim who tries for a baby with the Grim Reaper has a child with the Grimborn trait. Young adults and adults can become pregnant from that interaction whatever pregnancy setting they were given in Create a Sim.

Skip the trimesters
A Sims 4 pregnancy runs through three trimesters, and each of the three buffs moves the Sim to that stage. They are meant to be used in order, so a Sim you want to deliver today can take the first, the second and the third in sequence, then the labour buff.
In practice most people skip straight to the end. sims.add_buff buff_pregnancy_inlabor sends a pregnant Sim into labour immediately, which is the answer to the question people actually type into a search box. The trimester buffs are more useful when you are telling a story and want the bump to appear on a schedule rather than jumping to a newborn.
None of these buffs starts a pregnancy. The Sim has to be pregnant before any of them do anything, and there is no confirmed console command that makes a Sim pregnant out of nothing. The in-game route is Try for Baby.
Twins, triplets and larger litters
The offspring count is the only pregnancy cheat that needs two commands, because it has to be told which Sim it applies to. The Sim ID is a long number the game assigns, and you read it out of the console before you use it.

Look up the Sim ID

Set the number of babies
Type
pregnancy.force_offspring_count, a space, the Sim ID you just read, another space, then how many babies you want. Nothing visible happens until the birth.
Both EA's pregnancy guide and SnootySims document pregnancy.force_offspring_count, which makes it one of the better attested cheats in this area. The number you pass is the number of babies, so 2 gives twins and 3 gives triplets.
If you would rather leave it to chance, the Fertile reward trait raises the odds of twins without setting them. traits.equip_trait Fertile grants that reward trait outright. It changes the probability rather than the outcome, so a Sim who is already pregnant may still have one baby.
End a pregnancy
There is no cancel command. What you do instead is clear the buffs that carry the pregnancy, with sims.remove_all_buffs on the pregnant Sim.
EA's own pregnancy guide prints a longer version of this with pregnancy_in labor as an argument. That form has a space inside the argument, which would end the command early, so it is almost certainly a typographical error in EA's documentation. The plain command is the one to use.
Be aware of what "all buffs" means. The command clears every moodlet the Sim is carrying, the pleasant ones included, and leaves them in a neutral mood. On a Sim you have spent an evening making Confident, that is a real cost.
The baby's gender
No console command for the baby's gender could be confirmed against two independent sources, so this page does not print one. Plenty of guides suggest food and interactions during the pregnancy; those are gameplay influences rather than cheats, and we have not verified them.
What is documented is the route after the birth. cas.fulleditmode unlocks every field in Create a Sim: shift-click the Sim, choose Modify in CAS, and the gender field opens along with the name, the age, the traits and the aspiration. The console gives no confirmation message for that cheat, which throws people, so enter it in Live mode and then shift-click.
The same command is the backstop for a lot of things the buff cheats cannot reach. Age and death cheats covers what else full edit mode opens up.
Grim Reaper babies
With Life & Death installed, a Sim can try for a baby with the Grim Reaper, and the child is born with the Grimborn trait: a scythe birthmark and a longer life than an ordinary Sim. EA notes that young adults and adults can become pregnant from that interaction whatever pregnancy setting they were given in Create a Sim.
Both traits in that family can be granted directly. traits.equip_trait Grimborn gives a Sim the birthmark and the extended lifespan, and traits.equip_trait GrimDescendant gives the trait a child of a Grimborn Sim inherits, which carries neither.
That is the point where pregnancy meets the occults. If you want the parent to be a vampire or a werewolf rather than the Grim Reaper, occult cheats has the transformation commands, including the Dormant Wolf trait for a Sim who carries the werewolf bloodline without ever transforming.
Xbox and PlayStation
The commands are the same on console. Hold all four shoulder buttons together to open the cheat console, type the command with the on-screen keyboard, and press Enter. Press the four buttons again, or Esc, to close it.
The Sim ID step is the awkward one with a controller, because you have to read a long number off the screen and type it back in. It works, it is just slow. If you only want twins occasionally, the Fertile trait is less typing.
Every command on this page needs testingcheats true, and on PlayStation and Xbox that disables Achievements and Trophies for the save you are in. Other saves keep theirs, and there is no command that turns them back on, so keep a separate save for cheating if trophies matter to you.
What UI Cheats can and cannot do here
UI Cheats Extension, the free script mod by weerbesu, replaces a lot of console typing with clicks on the game's own panels. Pregnancy is not one of the things it covers. No pregnancy cheat appears in the author's feature list, so there is no progress bar to right-click and no dialog to type a trimester into. For everything on this page, the console is the only route.
It is worth installing anyway if you cheat around pregnancies often, because the surrounding jobs are all in it. Needs, moodlet removal, relationships, traits through the Simology panel, the age progress bar and the reward store are all click-editable, which covers most of what you do before and after a baby arrives.
Every UI Cheats feature, click by click lists each panel it touches. The mod is Windows and Mac only, it needs Script Mods Allowed switched on in Game Options, and it has to match your game version.
When a pregnancy cheat does nothing
Work through these in order.
- Cheats are off. Type
testingcheats trueand wait for the confirmation before anything else. - The Sim is not pregnant yet. Trimester and labour buffs need an existing pregnancy; they do not create one.
- The wrong Sim is selected. Click the pregnant Sim's portrait, then open the console.
- The buff name is misspelled. It is
buff_pregnancy_inlabor, one word, American spelling. - The offspring count was run without the Sim ID, or with a stale one. Read the ID again with
sims.get_sim_id_by_nameand copy it exactly.
If the console will not open at all, or every command comes back rejected, the problem is not specific to pregnancy. Sims 4 cheats not working works through the causes in the order that fixes them.
