Updated PC, Mac, Xbox, PlayStation
Turn cheats on with testingcheats true, then enter aspirations.complete_current_milestone to finish the milestone your Sim is working on and collect the satisfaction points that come with it. Repeat it for the next milestone, and the next.
For points on their own, use sims.give_satisfaction_points <number>. If you already know which reward you want, you can skip the points entirely and equip the reward trait with traits.equip_trait.

Nothing on this page runs until the master switch is on.
Open the cheat console with Ctrl + Shift + C on Windows, the same shortcut or Command + Shift + C on Mac, or by holding all four shoulder buttons on PlayStation and Xbox. Type testingcheats true and press Enter.

The aspiration commands
Two commands for the aspiration panel, and one more for buying your way out of it.
Aspiration and satisfaction commands
Two commands cover the whole aspiration panel: one finishes the milestone you are on, the other pays you the points.

The milestone command acts on the Sim you have selected, and only on the aspiration that Sim is currently pursuing. There is no argument to name a different aspiration, so switch the Sim to the aspiration you want before you start.
It works on pack aspirations as well as base game ones, including recent additions such as Social Puppeteer from Royalty and Legacy and Fairy Stories from Enchanted by Nature.
What satisfaction points are for
Points buy reward traits and reward objects from the Rewards Store, and nothing else.
Satisfaction points collect in the aspiration panel as a Sim completes milestones, and you spend them in the Rewards Store. Reward traits are what most people are there for, and they are permanent once bought.
That gives you two ways to reach the same result. Grant the points with sims.give_satisfaction_points and then shop normally, which keeps the Rewards Store as the place you browse and choose from. Or skip the currency and equip the trait you want directly with traits.equip_trait, which ignores the price completely.
Reward traits are separate from the personality traits a Sim was made with. If those are what you want to change, the codes are on the trait cheats page.

The internal name is rarely the name in the Rewards Store, so check the table rather than guessing.

Everything in the base game Rewards Store, by its internal name. The cheat ignores the price, so any of these works on a Sim with zero points.

Several of these are named nothing like the reward you see in the game. Companion is EternalBond, Domestic is FamilySim, Handy is TheKnack, Poetic is EpicPoet, Professorial is Chronicler, Shrewd is Invested, Thrifty is ValuedCustomer, Tormentor is Bane, and Naturalist is OneWithNature.

A pack trait does nothing if the pack is not installed. Worldly Knowledge from Snowy Escape is the one to watch: one guide spells it trait_wordlyknowledge and another spells it Trait_WorldlyKnowledge. The missing letter looks like a typo, but it may be the game's own, so try both before deciding the trait does not exist.
Adventure Awaits also adds a set of Childhood Inspiration reward traits following the pattern trait_Reward_ChildhoodInspiration_<Name>. Only one guide lists the individual names, so they are left out of the table above. The same guide notes they cost 100 satisfaction points each, which is cheap enough that granting the points is easier than hunting for the right code.
Console players and achievements
Otherwise these commands behave the same on all four platforms. Open the console by holding R1, R2, L1 and L2 on PlayStation, or RB, RT, LB and LT on Xbox.
EA documents the achievement rule for consoles only. The sources behind this page do not describe an equivalent penalty on PC or Mac.
Doing it from the aspiration panel instead
On PC and Mac, a free script mod makes the aspiration panel itself clickable.
The UI Cheats Extension by weerbesu adds right-click actions to the game's own panels. In the aspiration panel, right-click an individual aspiration goal to fulfil it. That awards the normal reward for the goal, which secondary guides describe as earning the satisfaction points you would have got the slow way. The author's own feature list does not name a separate cheat that sets a points total directly, so sims.give_satisfaction_points is still the reliable way to set a specific number.
You can also skip the currency question entirely: in the Rewards Store, right-click a reward to unlock it. That is the click equivalent of traits.equip_trait, without needing the internal name.
Two more aspiration-adjacent actions are in the mod:
- Right-click the Soul's Journey meter to choose a rank. This needs the Life and Death pack.
- Right-click the confirm button in Create a Sim to randomise a Sim's name, traits and aspiration, which is a quick way to make a test Sim.

If an aspiration cheat does nothing
Four things account for nearly all of it.
- Cheats are not on. Enter
testingcheats trueagain before anything else. - The Sim has no active aspiration, so there is no current milestone to complete. Pick one in the aspiration panel first.
- The trait code is misspelled, or belongs to a pack you do not own. Copy it from the tables above rather than typing it.
- The wrong Sim is selected. These commands act on the Sim you are controlling, with no way to name another.

Frequently asked questions
How do I finish a whole aspiration with cheats?
Enter aspirations.complete_current_milestone once for each milestone. The command completes the one the Sim is working on, so repeat it until the aspiration is done. Press the up arrow in the console and Enter to repeat without retyping.
How many satisfaction points can I give a Sim?
Put the number you want after the command: sims.give_satisfaction_points 5000. The points land in the aspiration panel and you spend them in the Rewards Store like any others.
Can I get a reward trait without earning the points?
Yes. traits.equip_trait <trait> gives the Sim the trait directly, and the cheat ignores the price in the Rewards Store. The codes are in the two tables above.
How do I remove a reward trait I no longer want?
Use the same code with traits.remove_trait in place of traits.equip_trait. For example, traits.remove_trait SteelBladder takes Steel Bladder away again.
Is there a cheat to change a Sim's aspiration?
None of the sources behind this page record a console command that swaps which aspiration a Sim is pursuing. On PC and Mac, the UI Cheats Extension can randomise a Sim's traits and aspiration from the confirm button in Create a Sim, which is the closest documented equivalent.
Do aspiration cheats work on Xbox and PlayStation?
Yes. Both commands are typed into the same cheat console, which consoles have. Because they need testingcheats true, they disable Achievements and Trophies for that save.
What about the Childhood Inspiration reward traits from Adventure Awaits?
Some guides report a large set of them following the pattern trait_Reward_ChildhoodInspiration_<Name>. Only one source lists the individual names, so they are not in the tables above. The same source notes each one costs only 100 satisfaction points in the Rewards Store, which makes them cheap enough to buy normally.
