UI Cheats Extension: frequently asked questions

It is a free mod for The Sims 4 by weerbesu. Instead of opening the cheat console and typing a command, you click or right-click the part of the interface you want to change: the money counter, a needs bar, a skill bar, the age progress bar, a relationship.

The mod covers most of the panels you look at during normal play. Every feature, panel by panel lists what each click does.

weerbesu, who has published it on Patreon since June 2015. There have been 85 releases, the most recent on 27 August 2026.

New versions usually follow a Sims 4 patch, because the mod has to be rebuilt for each one. The full version history shows every release with the game patch it was built for.

No. The very first release needed it, and weerbesu removed the requirement in v1.1 in June 2015.

None of these are in the author's feature list: renaming a Sim, editing lot traits, resetting or killing a Sim, setting a death type, controlling a pregnancy, adding a moodlet or buff (it removes them, it does not add them), and pausing or changing game speed.

For those you still need typed commands. The full Sims 4 cheat code list has them by category.

No. The mod works on the base game on its own.

Cheats for pack content only appear if you own that pack. The lifestyle cheat needs Snowy Escape, the lunar phase cheat needs Werewolves, university grades need Discover University, and so on. Nothing breaks if you do not own them; those controls simply are not in your game.

It is free and no pledge is needed. Patreon's own record of the post marks it as unpaid with a zero minimum pledge to view, and the zip is attached to the post itself.

Paying weerbesu is optional and supports the work. It does not get you a different file. The download page walks through getting it.

We do not host the file and we do not link to copies of it. A stale copy is worse than no copy, because a mod release that does not match your game patch is the main reason UI Cheats breaks. The download page has the link and explains what you are downloading.

The file on weerbesu's Patreon post is the author's own, and the mod has been in circulation since 2015. That post carries 19,393 likes and 3,677 comments, read on 22 September 2026, and the Legacy Edition build on Mod The Sims has been downloaded more than 3.1 million times.

Copies on file-host sites and mod aggregators are a different question. They are not the author's channels, nobody is checking what is in them, and they are usually out of date. How to tell a genuine download from a reupload.

Because weerbesu does not publish it there. He publishes on Patreon, and his only other listing is the frozen Legacy Edition build on Mod The Sims.

Anything you find on a third site is a copy someone else uploaded. The mod turns up on file-host sites and mod aggregators, and a copy of v1.50 was even posted on an unrelated Patreon account. None of those are weerbesu's.

One zip, UI_Cheats_Extension_v1.59.1.zip, about 15 MB (14,902,899 bytes). Inside it are two files: a package file and a script file. You need both, and you extract them before they go anywhere near the Mods folder.

Several guides name the two files UI_Cheats_Extension.package and UI_Cheats_Extension_Scripts.ts4script; the author's post calls them only the package file and the script file. Guides that still quote a 13.5 MB download are describing an older release.

Partly. One of the two files is a .ts4script, which is a script mod, and the other is an ordinary .package.

That is why you have to switch Script Mods Allowed on in Game Options and restart the game, and it is also why the mod cannot run on a console.

Into the Mods folder in your Documents folder, not into the game's install directory:

• Windows: C:\Users\YourName\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods
• Mac: /Users/YourName/Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/Mods

A single subfolder such as Mods\UI Cheats Extension\ is fine and is good practice. The script file must be no more than one subfolder deep or the game will not load it. Full steps: how to install UI Cheats, or the Mac version of the same guide.

Two ways, both from the author. In game, right-click the notebook icon next to the phone icon. Or, in Live mode, open the cheat console and type ui_cheats.mod_version.

Then compare what you see against the version history, which lists the Sims 4 patch each release was built for.

Let the game finish patching first. Then download the newest mod release, delete both old files, and put both new files in their place.

If the game has updated and no matching mod release exists yet, you wait. Nothing you install in the meantime will fix the mismatch, and the release dates in the version history show how quickly the author has turned patches around before.

No. The author asks for exactly one copy of the mod in the Mods folder.

That includes renamed files and old copies tucked into a subfolder inside Mods, which is a common way to end up with two versions loaded at once. Delete the old files rather than renaming them.

Almost certainly a version mismatch. The author's own rule is blunt: missing interface, glitched panels and frozen menus are always caused by the game version and the mod version not matching.

Update the game fully, then install the newest mod release. Every other fix comes after that one: UI Cheats not working, in order.

That is the author's split diagnosis, and it is very specific. Your package file loaded and your script file did not.

Check that the .ts4script file is really in the Mods folder, that it is no more than one subfolder deep, and that Script Mods Allowed is on and the game has been restarted since you switched it on.

Then neither file is loading, or mods are switched off entirely.

Open Game Options and check both Enable Custom Content and Mods and Script Mods Allowed, restart the game, then open the Mods menu. Installed correctly, the package file shows under Custom Content and the script file shows under Script Mods. If one is missing, that is the file to chase.

No. Each release is built for a particular Sims 4 patch and will not run on older ones, and you cannot choose which patch your game is on. Going backwards makes the mismatch worse.

The fix runs forwards: newest game patch, newest mod release. Legacy Edition is the one exception, because it is a different game client with its own frozen build.

Yes. Same two files, same process, same place: /Users/YourName/Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/Mods.

No source we could find describes a Mac-specific permission problem with this mod, and the guides that cover both platforms describe an identical process. The Mac install guide has the paths and the quarantine step.

No. The Sims 4 on consoles does not load script mods of any kind, and one of the two UI Cheats files is a script mod. There is no console version and no workaround.

At least one popular wiki claims PlayStation 4 support. That claim is wrong. Console players use the built-in cheat console instead: what you can do on console.

Both. The Sims 4 reads mods from your Documents folder whichever launcher started it, so the install is the same.

Do not put the files in the Steam install directory under steamapps. The game will not read them there.

Yes. The author states that UI Cheats only conflicts with other mods that override the same interface resources, and that it does not conflict with script mods or tuning mods. MC Command Center is a script mod, and two independent guides report the pair running together.

When two interface mods do clash, the game loads the first and ignores the second, so the second one looks broken. If you run several, install UI Cheats with the others removed, then add them back one at a time. How UI Cheats and MC Command Center compare.

Yes, but it is old. The author points Legacy Edition players at v1.15.1 on Mod The Sims, a separate build for 32-bit PCs and Macs without Metal support.

That listing reports game version 1.58.63 and was last updated in August 2022, so it has none of the features added since. Do not install it alongside the current version. The version history covers both lines.
